Chambers County Greenprint Follow-up

In spring 2009, residents of Chambers County developed a ten-point Action Plan to implement the Chambers County Greenprint, a project to define community goals for conservation and marry them with the science. The top three goals were: protect habitat, protect water quality, and target restorable habitats. Achieving those top three will simultaneously address the other three: maintain rural character, protect and restore natural drainage, and create more public access for nature-based recreation.

With a grant from the Texas Coastal Management Program, Texas Coastal Partners will bolster greenprint implementation by: (1) working with local citizens to develop and guide priority greenprint implementation activities, and coordinate those with the Hurricane Ike Chambers Recovery Team (ChaRT); (2) identifying funding sources and seeking financial support for priority projects; and (3) coordinating outreach to landowners interested in furthering conservation on their lands.
